Canterbury Health Laboratories, is the only New Zealand owned medical diagnostic laboratory in Canterbury and operates collection centres across four CDHB owned hospital sites in Canterbury.

Our collection centres provide on site specimen collection for both hospital patients and people who have been to see their GP, specialist or midwife. This makes our phlebotomists (people who take blood) some of the most experienced in New Zealand, especially when dealing with tricky veins, very sick patients, the elderly and children. Samples from these collection centres are then tested in one of our two laboratories. Our main laboratory opposite Christchurch Hospital in central Christchurch and our on site laboratory at Ashburton Hospital to provide the best service to our doctors and patients. The location of these blood collection centres is to provide Christchurch residents with the quickest and most convenient service and access to blood collection services.

All referral forms regardless of letterhead are accepted at all of Canterbury Health Laboratories blood test centres.
